Assistive Technology

Assistive Technology can be defined as: Any item, piece of equipment or product system whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified, or customized that is used to increase or improve functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities. (Cook & Hussey, 2000)

This definition basically says that assistive technology is a product or system that an individual can use for improvement.

One piece of equipment that is assistive technology is eye glasses which is an aid for eyesight. These can be quite expensive but aid a lot of people to continue driving, studying and working.

Here is a video about eye glasses and how to manage them.
